International Documentary Talent Development Program
International Documentary Talent Development Program
J-Docs Hub is a program aimed at nurturing professionals who can work internationally in the field of Japanese documentary production, including directors, filmmakers, and producers. It is a three-year project that began in September 2025 with funding from the Japan Creator Support Fund.
The Japan Creator Support Fund was established within the Japan Arts Council with subsidies from the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
The goal of J-Docs Hub is to develop human resources capable of bringing Japanese documentaries to the global stage. To achieve this, the project implements training programs in which participants can acquire essential skills through hands-on practice, such as project development, language proficiency, directing skills, and fundraising capabilities. Beyond knowledge acquisition, the program also supports the building of international networks by providing opportunities to experience real-world international documentary environments. In addition, J-Docs Hub offers development support for individual projects.
Through these initiatives, the project seeks to cultivate documentary creators who can operate at an international level and to promote Japanese documentaries worldwide.
